Members of the Bossier Youth Leadership Program receive a reality check of life in maximum lockup during a tour of the Bossier Sheriff’s Office correctional facilities Tuesday.
Thirty-six high school juniors throughout Bossier Parish high schools learned about various aspects of law enforcement by touring the North Louisiana Criminal Justice Academy in Plain Dealing and getting “booked” into jail at the Bossier Max. They also met with representatives from each of the Bossier law enforcement agencies and sat in on a court session in Bossier City.
Juniors from all six high schools in Bossier Parish who have demonstrated leadership abilities can become members of the program, which is sponsored by the Bossier Chamber of Commerce and the Bossier Parish School Board. The program is intended to develop and strengthen the students’ leadership skills.
