From the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry:

The Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry (LDAF) is monitoring all horses entering Louisiana from Illinois after reports of at least 68 horses that tested positive in recent months for Equine Herpes Virus Type 1 (EHV-1) at the Hawthorne Race Course located in Illinois. Horse owners must provide health certificates to the Louisiana State Veterinarian’s Office prior to entry.

Bossier Sheriff's Office seeks horse enthusiasts for mounted patrol

The Bossier Sheriff’s Office is seeking volunteers who enjoy riding horses and are interested in becoming part of the agency’s ceremonial Mounted Patrol unit. 

The equestrian team will represent the Bossier Sheriff’s Office at community events in non-law enforcement duties, such as parades, rodeos, and events throughout the parish.

The owner of a horse found alone in south Bossier Parish has until November 21 to reclaim it before it's sold at auction.

The Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office says the horse was found on November 6 in the 4300 block of Highway 527.

After proper identification of the horse, the claimant must pay the Bossier Sheriff’s Office for the costs of care, custody and control before the animal will be released.  

Owners or anyone with information concerning either of these two horses should contact Maj. Bobby Masters with the Bossier Sheriff’s Office at 318-965-2203.

Bossier S.O. looking for owner of shetland pony

The Bossier Sheriff’s Office is looking for the owner of a Shetland pony that was picked up near Beaver Lane, not far from Cypress Black Bayou, in Benton Oct. 10.

After proper identification of the horse, the claimant must pay the Bossier Sheriff’s Office for the costs of care, custody and control before the animal will be released. The owner has until Oct. 24 to claim the horse before the animal will be sold at public auction.

The Bossier Sheriff’s Department is looking for the owner of two miniature horses that were picked up in Haughton on May 9 in the vicinity of the 4000 block of Bellevue Road.

Any person claiming ownership of the animals must properly identify them and reimburse the Sheriff’s Department for expenses of care, custody and control of the horses. 

If they are not properly claimed by May 16, Bossier Sheriffs say the horses will be sold at a public livestock auction.
