BPCC nurses group donates stuffed animals to police/fire depts.

BPCC Student Nurses Association today presented stuffed animals collected during the organization’s “Tuff Stuff” Toy Drive. The stuffed animals will be given by police and fire departments to children in times of crisis (domestic violence calls, house fires, etc.).

Secretary of State Tom Schedler is encouraging all Louisianians eligible to vote in the April 6 primary election to consider voting early starting this Saturday. Early voting begins Saturday, March 23rd and continues through Saturday, March 30. The polls will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, excluding Good Friday (March 29) and Easter Sunday (March 31).

Sheriffs from across the state of Louisiana are meeting this week in Bossier City for the Louisiana Sheriffs’ Association 2013 Midwinter Conference.

Bossier Sheriff Julian Whittington is hosting the two-day bi-annual conference held Tuesday through Thursday.

Bald eagles topic of March 4 public presentation

David Hancock, noted biologist, conservationist, writer, publisher and lecturer, will speak about his life-long work with bald eagles during an event at the Red River National Wildlife Refuge at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, March 4.

The presentation, "The Ecology of Bald Eagles and the Great Northern Rivers," is sponsored by Shreveport's Bird Study Group and the Friends of the Red River NWR. The program is free and open to the public.
