Bossier Deputies, Posse play Santa to needy children | Community Spirit

Deputies and Posse members of the Bossier Sheriff’s Office played Santa Thursday and delivered toys to 228 disadvantaged children in 83 homes all throughout Bossier Parish as part of Operation Santa Claus.
Operation Santa Claus is a team effort between law enforcement officers from the Bossier Sheriff’s Office and Shreveport Police Department, firefighters from the Shreveport Fire Department, personalities from Townsquare Media and the community who give toys and money in order to provide Christmas presents for more than 1,000 disadvantaged children here in our area.
“Children are so special, and our deputies and Posse get a chance to play Santa and put a smile on a child’s face by presenting them with Christmas gifts,” said Bossier Sheriff Julian Whittington.
“Christmas is such a wonderful time of year filled with joy and cheer as we celebrate God’s love for mankind, but we know that some families are struggling. We patrol the neighborhoods, get to the know our folks, and making these deliveries builds on the relationships between children, families and our deputies. Providing these toys, bicycles and baby dolls to children in need warms all of our hearts.
"We are also so grateful to the residents of our area who give these toys and monetary donations in order for us to be a blessing to so many families,” the sheriff says.
