Bossier deputies searching for owner of two miniature horses

The Bossier Sheriff’s Department is looking for the owner of two miniature horses that were picked up in Haughton on May 9 in the vicinity of the 4000 block of Bellevue Road.

Any person claiming ownership of the animals must properly identify them and reimburse the Sheriff’s Department for expenses of care, custody and control of the horses. 

If they are not properly claimed by May 16, Bossier Sheriffs say the horses will be sold at a public livestock auction.

The Mardi Gras Krewe of Aesclepius and Raising Cane’s at Pierre Bossier Mall will be hosting a Mardi Gras Bead Recycling Drive.

The drive is scheduled for Saturday, May 12 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Fit for Life Sports Weekend takes place May 12-13 and will feature more than 20,000 athletes from around the world competing in a variety of sporting events throughout Shreveport and Bossier.  

Bodybuilding, strongman competitions and arm wrestling are just a few of the varying athletes and sports you will see competing at the Shreveport Convention Center.  

Admission is $20 per person at the Shreveport Convention Center on Saturday, May 12 and will give spectators access to all events throughout the day.

Nearly 800 5th graders in Bossier will graduate from the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) program at seven elementary schools throughout Bossier Parish from May 7 – 14.

Students from elementary schools at Waller, Princeton, W.T. Lewis, Kerr, Meadowview, Stockwell Place and Plantation Park will join more than 30,000 students who have successfully completed the D.A.R.E.

Sylvan Learning Ctr. to kick-off 'Amazing Reading Race' contest for area students

Sylvan will again be hosting the "Amazing Reading Race" reading contest for students grades K-8 in Caddo, DeSoto, Webster and Bossier parishes.

We will use our Book Adventure web-site to track which students pass the most number of quizzes on books that they have read from June 1 through August 31.

Prizes will be awarded for grades K-2, 3-5, and 6-8 as well as a GRAND PRIZE!!
